Improved Means for Achieving Deteriorated Ends
Whoosh
It's absolutely crazy that August is already here.
In my last post, I was trying to figure out how to have more impact as an Engineering Manager. Since then I've been promoted, joined the Senior Leadership Team, helped the Product department navigate a RIF, and had periodontal surgery (SFOT). I got my stitches out two days ago.
In just a few more days, I'll turn 40, deliver reviews to my 9 reports, and fly to Denver for a leadership offsite. My joys these days are simple: cuddling Mila, listening to my records, curling up with Norma to watch Silo, idly playing Silksong or Final Fantasy XII, going out on little dates.
There are some big things coming up I'm excited about, particularly a trip to Grayton Beach with Norma and Tez next month. But mostly, I'm happy to be in good health, at a job I where I usually feel effective with coworkers I like, and with a place to call home.
I don't know what I thought 40 would feel like and I don't have any big revelations about what I hope to do with the next decade. But if I have to sum things up, I'm working on being more proud of what I have accomplished and so far, so good.
